For an episode of the CBS sitcom The Lucy Present (1962-1968) referred to as “Lucy Baggage a Discount” (S4 E17), Lucille abruptly seems butt-boarding on a motorized skateboard after fumbling away within the Sports activities Division, attempting to make a sale.
The next decade (April 7, 1978), Brooke Shields makes an attempt to present skateboarding a go, then glamorously takes a break to take pleasure in some bubble-bum in entrance of the Washington Sq. arch. The caption below one of many images was a bit creepy…
“On the age of 1, she was a reasonably child in an Ivory Snow advert. Right now, on the age of 12, she is on her option to be a film celebrity along with her R-rated ‘Fairly Child’ premiering in New York this week and later throughout the nation, and with 5 new movies within the works. Brooke is a tall, gracefully gangling teenager. She has detachable braces on her tooth. For this outing, she’s sporting boots, denims and a sweater.” WTF??

In 1980, Brooke is again… this time posing for journal adverts in Japan with a Santa Cruz board.
Sandy West (aka Sandra Sue Pesavento), one of many founding members of the band The Runaways, hangs out on a skateboard wanting badass, as most drummers do. Apparently, she surfed, rode skateboards and loved rollerskating.
The floral shirt picture was taken by Michael Ochs in Los Angeles in December 1976.
Sandy was born in July 1959 in Lengthy Seashore, CA and raised in Huntington Seashore. In her bio, it’s famous that she was probably the most athletic of her seven sisters and took up drums at age 9 when her grandpa purchased her a package.
Love seeing these celebrities give it a go! And possibly they’d’ve pursued skateboarding extra diligently in the event that they weren’t below the scrutiny of the general public?
